This mountain home in Snoqualmie, WA had been neglected for decades and was headed for demolition. Cedar Mountain Construction LLC took on the project as a complete home restoration, choosing to strip the house back to the studs rather than simply patching problems. We started by taking the structure down to the studs so we could see and fix every underlying issue. This approach let us address problems that were hidden by years of wear, and it made room for new systems to be installed correctly from the ground up. Taking the house that far allowed for a thorough, long-lasting restoration rather than a temporary fix.
All major systems were replaced during the renovation. The electrical was updated throughout the home, plumbing was replaced where needed, and a new HVAC system was installed to improve comfort and reliability. Replacing these systems ensures the house meets modern standards for safety and performance while supporting many more years of use.
One of the design priorities was to bring nature into the living spaces. We installed a blue pine ceiling that adds warmth and a natural look to the interior. In addition to the ceiling, we added lots of windows to let in light and to connect the interior to the surrounding mountain landscape. The combination of natural wood and expanded glazing gives the home a bright, airy feel while keeping the mountain character intact.
Because the project was a full restoration, every decision focused on durability and livability. Exposing the studs gave the team clear access to run new wiring, place plumbing where it works best, and set up the HVAC layout with proper zoning. Those choices help the home perform better and make maintenance easier down the road.
The finished home keeps the mountain aesthetic while offering modern systems and a comfortable layout. Natural materials and increased daylight make the interior feel connected to the outdoors, which was a key goal for this Snoqualmie project.
